Use the article from Edutopia. Read it to students first as they follow along. Then have students read it again in their small groups. Students take turns reading softly in their groups. After reading a second time, give students the student response sheets. They are to discuss the answers for the questions, then write their responses. have students write their name on the article page and the response form. Collect both at the end of Advisement.
Math: periods 1 and 4. Students use their computers to go to Google Classroom. Take decimal quiz. Students need to use binder paper to work out their answers. The binder paper does not need to be turned in.
Science: Periods 2 and 3. Students use their computers and go to Google Classroom to read the science article. Use one of the print-outs to read it to them first before they open their computers. Students are to go to NEWSELA.com and log in with their Google accounts. The article should be there. In case students are asked for a code to join the class, here are the codes: Period 2 YDABR Period 3 XABQJ
